Microenterprise Coach – Morwell and Dandenong locations

Join a high performing team with heart!

Good Shepherd Microfinance is a world leader in financial inclusion products, services and advisory. We offer fair and affordable financial programs to people on low incomes and advisory services for governments, businesses and other organisations. We recognise the rich diversity of people across Australia. We are committed to ensuring that our team is reflective of the diverse community we serve and to supporting a culture of equity, inclusion and diversity.

What will be your key focus?

Good Shepherd Microfinance is building a microenterprise program from the ground up, in collaboration with state and federal government funding partners.  LaunchME, initially piloted in South Australia, provides a range of complementary services to people on low incomes who are seeking to start or develop a microenterprise. The key objective of the program is to support the establishment of sustainable microenterprises by program participants, leading to financial inclusion and self-reliance for disadvantaged members of our society.

Reporting to the Microenterprise Lead Coach, this role will provide 1:1 and group microenterprise coaching services to participants in our new Victorian program based in Morwell; and to participants in other locations via teleconferencing. These roles, based in Morwell and Dandenong, may be offered full time or part time.

What will you need to succeed?

  1. Do you have experience in a coaching role? We’re interested in applicants who have worked in a coaching environment, either in microenterprise or another context, with a “caseload” of clients, each of whom has specific needs.
  2. Have you run a small business? We’re keen to see applications from people who have started and run their own small businesses. Or maybe you’ve studied business and worked in a small or family business. We’d love to learn from your experience!
  3. Have you assisted people to gain employment? As some applicants may use these skills to move into employment (or study) it would be great if you have experience in helping people entering the workforce. We want to offer people alternate pathways if microenterprise is not a suitable option for them.
  4. Do you have a business plan you can share with us? One of the key responsibilities is to support participants with their business plans. If you can show us one that you’ve worked on – that would be great!
  5. Are you interested in social justice and financial inclusion? We’re keen to recruit people who are passionate about our work. Experience working with people on low incomes especially women, and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds (CALD) is preferred but not essential. The capacity and commitment to work in alignment with the values of Good Shepherd Microfinance is also very important.
  6. Are you a great communicator? We need someone to help tell our story – a great communicator who is able to relate to a variety of people. Exceptional communication skills suitable to support people from a diverse range of backgrounds including Indigenous people, CALD people, and people who have a low level of formal education.
  7. Do you like numbers? We’re all about building financial resilience – so you must have a high level of financial literacy.
