On the 9th day of Christmas my no interest loan was approved for a pre-electrical apprenticeship for my son.

Anna wanted to give her son the best education possible. She was hoping to pay for him to do a pre-electrical apprentice training at TAFE, but couldn’t afford it.

Anna heard about NILS and applied for a loan through Thornbury Women’s Neighbourhood House.

“It was a great, great help to me. Since then I haven’t looked back, I have no regrets, my son did well, he completed the course. He’s just looking now for an electrical apprenticeship but he’s doing really well.”

“Knowing that you are getting a small repayment out every fortnight, and you know it is affordable, and you know that you can survive. It’s like you don’t even know that it’s coming out.”

The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) provides individuals and families on a low income access to safe, fair and affordable credit. Loans start from $300 up to $1200 for essential goods and services. To find out more, call 13 NILS (13 6457) or www.nils.com.au
