Day 6 - This savings tip will give you goosebumps. "During the school holidays, we bake as a family to build up the freezer for school snacks, recess and lunches. This allows time together bonding in the kitchen, the children have a say what they want to eat during the term and have control of what goes in their body and it saves us money. We are also super organised so less spent on lunch orders. This saves my sanity during the school term."

Day 5 - Ring in the new year with a back to school savings strategy. Here's a savings tip to get you started: "I start saving in January by putting $1 for the 1st week the $2 for week 2, week 3, $3 and continue every week until week 52 with $52. Day 4 - We've got a savings tip to chirp about. "We have 4 kids under 7, so we have online banking set up so that $50 automatically comes out every time we get paid, and we don’t notice it as it's set up periodically. This helps with their uniforms, school books, and any other surprises! We keep it going all year round..." Got a BACK TO SCHOOL savings tip? Day 3 savings tip from a Facebook community member with 3 little chicks of her own. We recycle used items from previous years. Often the kids have books that aren't used a lot, so I rip out the used pages and use book covers so the class and subject can be changed. A third of the books are saved each year. I also go through their pencils, crayons etc and sharpen them up to reuse. I buy black fabric pencil cases and lunch boxes so that they don't stain and depending on their condition, can be washed and reused for another year. I pick up clearance stationary items during the year and keep them in a box till next school year, and if you hang uniforms on the line inside out, the colour fades on the inside, not the outside, so they last longer.
