Our valued corporate partner, the National Australia Bank (NAB), has scored 100/100 on financial inclusion initiatives in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index – the most widely recognised global index tracking the world’s leading companies against social, economic and environmental criteria.
Good Shepherd Microfinance and NAB share a goal to reach 1 million people on low incomes with microfinance by 2018.
We know NAB has made a strong, deeply held commitment to financial inclusion demonstrated by:
- NAB’s passionate team members we work with every day
- NAB’s financial commitment to providing loan capital for NILS and StepUP
- NAB’s leadership in the sector, particularly through being the first bank to refuse to fund the payday lenders in Australia.
That’s why we’re so pleased to see this world leader in financial inclusion get the credit it deserves. NAB has recorded a six percentage point increase in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index to score 94 out of 100, the highest year on year increase and the highest score NAB has ever received.
Significantly, NAB received a perfect score for financial inclusion – 100 out of 100.
It also recognised NAB’s strong performance in the areas of community investment, employee diversity, investing in people and managing business risks and opportunities.
Congratulations to NAB, its leaders, employees and investors – your work promoting financial inclusion is transforming lives and building a stronger community.
