No Interest Loan enables connected families

"The workers were great and it was a more respectful process than with a payday lender, or a rent-to-buy store"

Two years ago, Margaret worked in mining, earning a decent wage. Unfortunately, she experienced a back injury and within two days of notifying her employer, was evicted from her home and released from her job. For 9 months, Margaret lived in her car as she fought for a WorkCover payment. Finally, she received compensation for medical bills, but not for her inability to work. So, Margaret decided to move closer to her four children and seven grandchildren to rebuild her life. Margaret wanted to buy a television and barbeque so that she could entertain her family anytime, but particularly her grandchildren during the weekdays afternoons.

After seeking financial counselling, Margaret was referred to a local NILS provider, and found the process very straightforward. Since receiving her NILS loan, Margaret is enjoying regularly entertaining her family in her home, and has even begun playing video games with her grandchildren.

She enthusiastically refers many friends and neighbours to NILS, saying it is a wonderful, affordable, practical, no interest program.
