‘Insure it, it’s worth it’ Toolkit

‘Insure it, it’s worth it’ Toolkit

In partnership with the Victorian Government, Good Shepherd Microfinance developed the ‘Insure it. It’s worth it’ Toolkit to help financially prepare you and your family if things go wrong.

In southeast Australia in recent decades, bushfire has been the second biggest cause of insured property loss from natural hazards after severe thunderstorms. Victoria is the most exposed state.*

Now and then we face storms, floods and bushfires which can result in damage to Victorian homes. In 2015-16 storm-related claims cost more than $30 million and there were over 42,000 burglaries/break and enter crimes reported in Victoria in the year ending March 2018.*

The Toolkit provides four easy steps to understand what level of insurance you need so you can bounce back after an emergency:

  • Know your risk
  • Calculate the value of your belongings
  • Insure what matters to you
  • Protect your important documents
